Since Marion Ross was murdered in January 1997 and Shirley McKie was accused of leaving her fingerprint at the scene of the crime media interest has been extensive and consistent. In addition to four major TV programmes many dozens of radio and television items have been broadcast and hundreds of newspaper and magazine articles written. This selection of the media coverage has been organised to give the casual reader and the more interested observer a sense of how the controversy developed revealing the many twists and turns it continues to take. A number of references to related controversies engulfing the science of fingerprinting over this period have also been included in this selection.
